De kwalificaties zijn letterlijk en figuurlijk in het water gevallen, door hevige regenbuien zijn de kwalificaties een paar keer uitgesteld met als resultaat deze verplaatst zijn naar morgen.

Omdat de teams toch 100% standby moesten zijn begonnen ze alsware te verbroederen en vonden ze het leuk om wat leuke grappen uit te halen. Mensen die gekeken hebben via BBC zullen het wel weten. Verder nog mijn allergrootste respect voor BBC om een 2u show vol te krijgen terwijl er bijna geen wagen te zien was.

Er was zelfs een geïmproviseerde bootjesrace ...

The beloved Suzuka boat race

Not for the first time in history - and probably not for the last - the Suzuka pit lane was the venue for the F1 boat race.

With team personnel and drivers hanging around the pits waiting for any sign that qualifying may take place, it was only a matter of time before the boredom set in.

And boredom and rain can only mean one thing: Boat race.

There were some rather elaborate boats navigating the river down the pit lane with one even made from Red Bull cans.

However, Heikki Kovalainen decided his deserved number one status and the Lotus driver put that on his sail.

"It's the only thing we'll win this year," Lotus technical chief Mike Gascoyne told the BBC as Kovalainen place his boat into the water.

The boat, though, didn't move.

"It's waiting for the lights," said Kovalainen.
