ben ns gaan snuisteren in de technical notes van Elise S2 : die sensor is effectief de camshaft sensor !

Eender welke sensor, als er 3 draadjes aanhangen is t zeker niet normaal als er 2 los (afgeknipt) zijn !

wat uitleg ivm camshaft sensor :

The cam sensor is a magnetic sensor that tells the computer on start up what position the cam is at in relation to the crankshaft. The computer uses this information to determine when to deliver fuel to the proper cylinders The fuel system on most modern fuel injection systems are synchronous so the deliver fuel only on the intake stroke of the proper cylinder. If the cam sensor becomes inoperative on most fuel system the computer will deliver fuel in a defaulted mode and the engine will still run but not as efficiently as it should. As to if the car will make a three hour trip. Probably but" life is a crap shoot there are no guarantees ."

Its a camshaft position sensor and some added features of you engine may be disabled. The camshaft is a rod with nibs on it to activate the valves. Without the cam sensor, variable valve timing will not work properly. Since most cars use this, it may damage your engine, such as valves not opening on time or staying open too long.....unless there is static valve timing backup provided by the engine computer.

It should still work...but may die unexpectedly....and may have trouble starting...

Mogelijke gevolgen van n kapotte sensor

If the car has no backup, the engine will blow or melt the valves and requiring replacement of the affected valves. There should be a very LOUD knocking noise if a valve is melted off....The valve will still move, but it will not cover the cylinder during combustion thus making a loud noise during combustion.....and you will obviously be dumping fuel because there would be no compression on that valve.

Mijn advies : ga zo snel mogelijk bij n dealer langs om dat te laten fixen (die hebben ook n OBD-device om de foutcodes uit te lezen) ! Wat je zelf kunt proberen te doen is die draadjes te herstellen, en ziet wat t resultaat is.

hoor je de benzinepomp? tijdens starten

Ja die doet normaal.

hebt ge de inertia plug al eens terug ingeduwd..?..dit is een switch/contact die normaal alleen maar werkt bij extreme harde bumps en de fuel pump uitschakelt..maar.. na een aantal jaren kan defekt geraken naar het schijnt...
ook is er daar naast nog de:Multi function box..MFRU,

it's responsible for your starter motor control, your fuel pump control and alarm control.

pesky little box full of relays and 'cause of its location, gets damp and eventually one of the relays gives up, crippling the vehicle.

dead easy to change fortunately, plus easy to get at and relatively cheep. should change every three/four years as matter of course depending if vehicle is garaged or not.

quick note on the inertia switch, these tend to last for years, mainly 'cause they're not used, I mean there mechanical alright but don't get operated on/off every day, only for big shunt or when inverted.

Ze lijken ook niet afgeknipt, eerder los geknabbeld, vind het maar vreemd

Het kan ook nog niet lang zijn volgens mij, ik de Elise anderhalve maand terug stil gezet omdat ik de koplampen er had af gehaald. Staat onder dekzeil onder de carport.

Wat je zelf kunt proberen te doen is die draadjes te herstellen, en ziet wat t resultaat is.

Dat ga ik morgen ook doen, na een telefoontje aan FKM.

Ik heb iets soortgelijks voorgehad, door muizen/ratten.
Valt dus niet van te verschieten.

Ivm de ODBII, ik kan mij vergissen maar jij kan daarmee weinig of niks doen op je Rover Elise. Op mijn MK1 toch al zeker niet, daarvoor dient een "speciaal" kastje om de MEMS ECU uit te lezen. Ik vind het een zeer ongebruiksvriendelijk/onhandig systeem, niet voor lompe mensen zoals ik.

Net gebeld, kabeltjes terug verbinden lijkt het beste om te proberen momenteel. Ga er vandaag werk van maken.
