Re: Lotus Eleven - Westfield Eleven
't Was rustig op de markt van de Lotus/Westfield Elevens de laatste maanden, met nagenoeg geen aangeboden auto's. Maar nu zijn er weer 2 tegelijk beschikbaar, helaas niet helemaal geschikt om in te schrijven in België :
1985 Westfield Eleven
After many years one of these rare cars has come on the market, and even better one with race pedigree.
But just to wet the appetite... Aldon based ford 1300 xflow, twin 40's, tubular manifold, dry sumped and all the other trick bits which reputedly put out 145hp when last raced against the likes of Lee Noble etc, scruteenering tags.
Race clutch, 4 speed box and a shed load of spares including Full bonnet, Rear axle and stubs for wire wheel conversion, 2 extra Fuel tanks for passenger pontoon and rear section to allow for endurance racing, plus boxs of other spares.
Truthfully we haven't had the time to go through everything ! but rare as hens teeth to have a road registered 11 so will surely not hang around for long.....already been on a round trip to Le Mans this year, so clearly sorted.

Re: Lotus Eleven - Westfield Eleven
De 2e Westfield Eleven is voorzien van een 1700 cc motor met 140 pk, maar bij de opbouw is duidelijk minder aandacht gegeven aan de klassieke look. Jammer, maar helaas ....
1995 Westfield Eleven
It was built in 1995 with only 2 previous owners,
The engine is a 1700sprint ohv x flow which produces about 140bhp. the twin 40's were serviced (and one new one put on)the car has done very little mileage since apart from turning(minilite) the wheels to keep it mobile.
The car was originally built as a sprint/ hillclimb car so has a high spec engine to include high compression pistons, lightened flywheel and fully baffled steel sump.
Its had the gearbox changed from a 4 speed to a 5 speed as it ran out of revs on long runs.4spd box included
The odometer reads 3152 miles and that is the true mileage - i have MOT certificates from 1995 showing 8 miles, 1997 showing 604 miles, 1998 showing 1684 miles,2001 showing 2202 miles and 2004 showing 2496 miles, 2008 showing 2869
The seats are comfortable red leather and both seats are harnessed (drivers with a 5 point)The rear of the car is not the usual XI drivers "bubble". When our mechanic took the car to the Westfield factory, they firstly said that the moulds were not theirs, then some old chap walking past remembered them and beileved it was one of only 4 panels that they had made - so it is a very unique car if that is the case (I have not contacted Westfield to obtain a letter to that effect, but i'm sure it would be possible to do so).
I have a folder with many of the original invoices for the engine, shell etc
The carbs could do with a tune up but it still goes like a rocket ,needs a speedo cable ,
Has the westfied rear diff,
16500 £

Re: Lotus Eleven - Westfield Eleven
En ik ontving ook bericht over een originele LOTUS 23B, met belgische registratie !!!
Lot No: 272
1965 LOTUS-FORD TYPE 23B SPORTS-RACING TWO-SEATER
Registration no. Belgian Reg. No.: GYN 165
Chassis no. 23-S-106
Engine no. 13650210
Estimate: £70,000 - 80,000, € 80,000 - 91,000
Footnote:
This very well presented Lotus 23B is not only a fine example of its type, but it is also a car which was accepted for the Goodwood Revival Meeting here in 2008, and which performed very well in that year's Madgwick Cup event, qualifying fourth fastest on the starting grid, grabbing an immediate second place first time into Madgwick Corner and finally finishing fifth only after spinning through 360-degrees leaving the chicane on the very last lap.
This was a prodigious performance considering that the car was then effectively "straight out of the box", having just completed its latest restoration and never having been raced before by its contemporary, and still current, owners.
In fact the car has not been used since that 2008 Revival Meeting, having instead been stored in the vendors' heated workshop with its 1,594cc Lotus-Ford twin-cam engine being turned and/or run regularly.
We understand that this car was purchased by John Morley from Spain and entrusted to Stephan Kupka's well-known Belgian restoration company of Mec Auto,in Baelen near Spa. They completed a full restoration which was completed in 1986.
The car was purchased subsequently by Dr Mark Green in 2002 and raced in European Championship Historic events, Dr Green being well-known in such circles for his work in attending to and repatriating drivers who suffer serious injury while abroad.
The present vendor purchased this lovely little Lotus 23B from Dr. Green in 2005 and while rating it as having been 'raceready' it did not meet his own acceptable standard, and he consequently commissioned leading preparation specialist John Sabourin who built into it his many years' experience with all manner of racing machinery ranging from Lotus Elan 26Rs to CanAm and Formula 1 cars. In particular he had been responsible for the present vendor's
two Formula 1cars - a Lotus 72 and Tyrrell 012.
He consequently fully restored this Lotus 23B in 2008, his painstaking work including driver's seat and pedal position adaptation to suit tall drivers, of six feet and 6 feet 2 inches respectively.
The car is offered here with FiA and HTP papers and is even EU road registered in Belgium. These Type 23Bs were the big sister of the initial Lotus 23 batch, originated for the 1962 season, the vast majority of which were powered by 1-litre and 1,100cc production-based 4-cylinder engines, the most popular option being the 1,097cc Cosworth-Ford unit.No fewer than 131 of these fine small-capacity class cars were manufactured by Lotus during the period 1962-64, and they sold to all parts of the motor racing world, packing the relevant category starting grids not least right here at Goodwood. Two quasi-works cars were even entered for the Le Mans 24-Hours race in 1962 – one with a 997cc engine, the other with a 745cc power unit, only to be rejected at scrutineering– it is believed because of the threat they posed to small French entries in the valuable Index of Performance competition! Colin Chapman vowed he would never run another car at Le Mans, and kept that promise...
The first Lotus-Ford twin-cam headed 1,500cc engine emerged in a Team Lotus-entered Type 23 for Jimmy Clark to drive in the 1962 ADAC 1,000 Kilometres race at the Nurburgring. There Jimmy absolutely excelled, leading all the factory prototype and GT cars from Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche with this 'little tiddler' until he was overcome by exhaust gases escaping from a fractured exhaust and left the road (unhurt).
For 1963 enlarged 1,500 and 1,600cc engines were fitted into the first production batch of Type 23Bs and they also achieved the most enormous International success, both commercially and competitively, featuring a revised chassis and normally 1,558cc versions of the Lotus-Ford twin-cam engine.
Above all the pretty and immensely desirable Lotus 23B is a joy to drive – and to race – and it embodies the last small-capacity pure sports-racing car to have been designed by Colin Chapman since later sports Lotuses were all to be suitably modified road car designs.
