In het bericht is dus sprake van een mogelijke samenwerking van Renault en Lotus-Cars! Niet Lotus Racing Team ...
Het begint me toch een beetje moeilijk te worden ...

De 'officiele' naam van Lotus Racing 1Malaysia Racing Team .
Renault zal in 2011 verschillende F1 teams voorzien van motoren ; o.a. Red Bull , 1Malaysia Racing Team ,... . Renault blijft partner van Renault F1 Racing , maar het Team kan volgend jaar Lotus-Renault worden .

Deze mogelijke samenwerking in de Formula1 gaat véél verder dan de sport , Renault-Nissan en de Proton Holding ( ruim besproken op het forum) willen op gebied van platform-sharing en produkt-developement de 'link' tussen beiden sterker aanhalen. Proton wil in Europa auto's verkopen en Renault wil in de Asiatische markt groeien . Een soort win-win deal voor beiden .

French daily: Renault to sell 25% of F1 team to Proton?

According to Paris daily Le Figaro, French carmaker Renault is about to sell its remaining 25% stake in the Renault F1 Team to national carmaker Proton, and that the deal will be formalised this Wednesday, citing unidentified people close to the matter. Renault has already sold 75% of the team to Genii Capital Partners last year.

Proton’s wholly owned subsidiary Group Lotus will be the team’s sponsor, and will pour about 30 million euros ($41 million) annually over five years into the team, the report said, adding that the team’s new name may be Lotus-Renault as the French automaker will continue supplying engines. Renault engines will also power champions Red Bull Racing and Lotus Racing next season.

Rumours of a “Lotus-Renault” surfaced earlier this month. When questioned, Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn not only did not deny the rumour, but hinted strongly at the possibility of a name change for the F1 team.

Zou Proton dit niet veel beter kunnen gebruiken voor de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe Lotusmodellen ipv Bahar z'n ego nog te vergroten...

Als Lotus-Renault het goed doet is dat geen verloren geld hé ... Als ze hun participatie verkopen binnen enkele jaren kan er winst gemaakt worden. Maar ik kan je redenering wel volgen.

Eigenlijk zelfde verhaal mochten ze dat geld in Lotus Racing steken, maar ik denk dat Tony geen geld nodig heeft en dus ook geen aandelen zal willen verkopen.

Maar wie weet ...

Ik blijft hardop dromen van een tripartite Lotus Racing/Team Lotus van Fernandez <> Renault F1 <> Group Lotus.

Maar we zitten volgens mij met teveel EGO's

Nog geen 'oficieel' bericht Als alles verloop zoals in dit bericht wordt 'gescheven' dan zou in de loop van volgende week Proton de 25% aandelen die de Renault Group bezit in het Renault F1 Racing 'overnemen' .
Enkel als dit achter de rug is wil Proton verder werken aan een 'partnership' met Renault-Nissan om samen wagens te ontwikkelen .
In het geval van Proton is het vooral de bedoeling om het in de autosport geinvesteerd budget 'terug' te verdienen met een wereldwijde groei van het merk ' Lotus' en voor Proton Cars is een samenwerking met een wereld-autobouwer van 'levensbelang' om verder te evolueren naar een Global-brand.

The teams that have problems are Renault, which has a chassis called a Renault, Lotus Racing which has a chassis called Lotus and HRT F1 which has a chassis called an HRT. At the moment Renault wants to change its chassis name to Lotus, but if that happens the team will lose all the historical benefits which go with the entry, which is a great deal of money. The idea was to use the name Lotus as a title sponsor and thus create the team name Lotus Renault, but it seems that Renault wants out completely. Lotus Racing does not wish to give up the Lotus chassis name unless it is paid a suitable sum of money and Group Lotus is baulking at the kind of money being discussed. As of today, therefore, Lotus will stick with Lotus and Renault will have to figure out what to do.--------

The question of Lotus and Lotus still needs to be sorted out by the Malaysians. Tony Fernandes of Lotus Racing is believed to have a back-up plan ready to go, if Group Lotus comes up with the cash. This would involve the launch of a completely new brand over which Fernandes would have completed control, without fear that someone might ride in and elbow him out of the way. There is no logic in having two competing Lotuses so the sooner the Malaysians can sort themselves out, the better it will be for all concerned. However, all of the Group Lotus schemes are being funded with money that has been borrowed from banks and guaranteed by the Malaysian government, which means that the politician are very worried about being seen to have wasted public money.

The cynics in F1 say that they got themselves into this mess and so have to bite the bullet and sort it out, or forget it and let Fernandes run the show.
